We deliver authentic therapeutic education
"Person-centred curriculum seeks to identify unique gifts of each pupil and encourages individualised learning” (Goldsmiths, University of London)
We provide inclusive schools
where SEMH and ASC pupils are taught together in an inclusive environment, with genuine pupil/parent/staff voice and participation. "School life without labels" - the only labels we tolerate are positive. We see our pupils as talented young leaders
We transform lives
“Highly effective in transforming the lives of pupils, educationally, emotionally and socially” (Goldsmiths, University of London)
Learning can only happen when pupils feel safe enough to take risks and open up to challenges. We use a therapeutic approach based in neuroscience to support our pupils to move from the ‘survival’ to the ‘thinking’ part of their brain. A variety of therapeutic methods can encourage emotional and social growth and create a joy for learning.
Through our Principles of Therapeutic Education, pupils at the targeted and intense level of the Triangle of Interventions receive Speech and language, Creative arts psychotherapy, and Occupational therapy. We work with clinical/educationalist psychologists, CAHMs services and animal therapies to properly support each pupil.
Our award-winning LIFE programme teaches our pupils confidence and resilience, the principles of Leadership, Independence, Future options & employability, and Empowerment. We build self-esteem through weekly assemblies, Group Process sessions, and reflective time, encouraging pupils to flourish in school and succeed as adults. We offer qualifications in Peer Mentoring (Level 2) and English Speaking Board.
We believe that ‘Families And Schools working Together’ (FAST) are key to understanding pupil experience and affecting change. We work collaboratively with parents and carers to ensure that pupils experience continuity within their Pathway Plan, at home and school. We invest in social work throughout TCES to support our complex and vulnerable pupils.
We believe in ‘school life without labels’ – we are a truly inclusive environment supporting our pupils with neurodiverse needs. We do not exclude pupils. We never give up on them.
We put safeguarding at the heart of our schools and services and have real expertise in safeguarding, from our proprietor and our Safeguarding Governor, to our Safeguarding Lead and DSLs across the group. TCES is committed to safeguarding vulnerable children and young people and safeguarding is the responsibility of us all. Early Help is built into our targeted offer to prevent young people reaching CIN and CP levels.
