Before joining TCES Nurture Primary
Louis had been attending school on a reduced timetable (3 hours a day).
He consistently displayed highly challenging behaviour both at home and in school. His emotional dysregulation would often escalate into physical outbursts.
He would often throw furniture and would hit, scratch, or pinch others when distressed or overwhelmed.
Louis had a history of attachment and developmental trauma, which significantly affected his emotional wellbeing and ability to trust others.
At the time of referral to Nurture Primary, Louis was working significantly below age-related expectations and had made slow academic progress.
Louis found it difficult to engage in social play or structured group activities.
Children at school were frightened of him, as his behaviour was unpredictable. This led to him feeling further isolated.
He found it challenging to express his emotions and instead would act out physically or seek constant reassurance from trusted adults.

Progression
His attendance increased to 97%, and he began attending school full-time.
Louis’ ability to self-regulate emotionally, identify his triggers and develop effective emotional management strategies has improved through therapeutic interventions.
He uses self-regulation strategies, such as taking breaks and finding a safe space during moments of distress.
Louis now uses the ‘Zones of Regulation’ method to confidently communicate his emotions to teachers.
There has been a significant reduction in violent incidents with staff and fellow students.
Louis has made progress in his learning through his personalised curriculum. He enjoys working creatively in his Art and English lessons.
He has shown great improvement in his social skills, including turn-taking and sharing during structured play.
Louis has a small group of friends at Nurture Primary, who he plays with and interacts with confidently.
“I’m incredibly proud of Louis. He has had an incredible transformation from the first time I met him. He has grown into kind, passionate and confident young man, who looks out for others. He has a bright future ahead of him.” Georgia, Louis’ Teacher
