Meet Tristan

Before joining TCES North West London School

Tristan was not engaging with education.

He had diagnoses of ADHD and ASC.

Tristan experienced severe anxiety due to significant changes in his family structure.

He frequently displayed challenging behaviours, including physical aggression towards staff when he felt frustrated or didn’t get his way.

Some incidents escalated to police involvement.

Tristan stopped attending his previous school due to persistent bullying from peers.

He struggled to form and maintain friendships, often becoming isolated or involved in conflict.

He struggled to identify and communicate his emotions effectively.

Tristan had difficulties regulating and managing his emotions, becoming easily frustrated in everyday situations.

He showed poor awareness of how his behaviour affected others, including not recognising personal boundaries or facial expressions.

Progression

With therapeutic input, he is developing strategies to recognise and manage his emotions more effectively.

Incidents of emotional outbursts have reduced in both frequency and intensity.

Tristan is now able to verbalise how he feels in challenging situations, rather than acting out through aggression.

He has formed trusting relationships with key adults and has learnt how to interact more positively with peers.

Tristan has benefitted greatly from Drama Psychotherapy, using creativity, imagination, and storytelling to explore and process difficult emotions and significant life changes in a safe and engaging way.

Through Drama Therapy, Tristan used creativity, imagination, and stories to help him make process the difficult feelings and changes he was experiencing at home.

Tristan has re-engaged with learning and is actively participates in lessons, with increased focus, effort, and pride in his work.

Tristan graduated from TCES North West London School in 2024.

He currently attends TCES North West London School’s Post-16 service and is studying Digital Media, Web Design and Home Cooking.

He works alongside and supports his peers at TCES North West London School’s Post-16 Café and helps prepare and serve drinks to guests, including staff, visitors, and members of the public, gaining valuable work experience in a real-world setting.

With the support of his family and TCES and Tristan has started his own Coffee Van Business.

“Watching Tristan grow in confidence and begin to believe in his own abilities has been very rewarding. His progress is a reminder that with the right support and belief, every young person can thrive.” Becca, Tristan’s Teacher
