Students from across the TCES community came together for a cross-company football tournament that delivered dramatic matches, spectacular goals and a fantastic display of teamwork and sportsmanship.
With teams representing North West London School (NWLS), East London School (ELS), Nurture Primary School (NP) and East
London School Outreach (ELSO), the tournament brought together students from across the organisation for a day of competitive school football, played in perfect conditions under bright sunshine.
From the first whistle, the group stages set the tone for an exciting tournament. NWLS edged a thrilling 5–4 victory over ELSO in one of the most dramatic games of the day, while NP secured a strong 2–1 win against ELS before later battling to a determined 2–2 draw with ELSO.
Another high-scoring encounter saw NWLS and NP go goal-for-goal in a 5–4 contest, with both teams pushing forward in attack and keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
ELS also showed their attacking strength during the group stages, producing an impressive 6–2 win against NWLS to keep their hopes of reaching the final firmly alive. Heading into their final group match, the stakes were clear: ELS needed a victory to secure their place in the final. Rising to the challenge, the team delivered when it mattered most, booking their spot in a final showdown against NWLS.
Alongside the competitive matches, the tournament also produced moments of real brilliance. Two stunning long-range efforts quickly became contenders for Goal of the Tournament, with both Josiah and Harry unleashing incredible strikes from around 30 yards out. The powerful shots flew past the goalkeepers and sparked huge cheers from players and spectators watching from the sidelines.

With the group stages complete, attention turned to the final, where North West London School faced East London School in what promised to be a tightly contested match.
NWLS started the stronger of the two sides, striking early and building momentum with two quick goals that gave them control of the match. ELS refused to back down and fought their way back into the contest, pulling a goal back and applying pressure as the second half unfolded.
Despite their determination and attacking push for an equaliser, time began to run out. When the final whistle sounded, North West London School emerged victorious with a 2–1 win, sealing the tournament title after an impressive team performance.
Following the final, attention turned to celebrating the standout performers who helped make the tournament so memorable. Josiah from Nurture Primary School was recognised as Best Goalkeeper after producing a series of impressive saves throughout the day, while Zak from North West London School claimed the Top Goalscorer award thanks to his clinical finishing in front of goal.
The Player of the Tournament award went to Robertas from East London School Outreach, whose performances across the competition consistently stood out, influencing games with skill, determination and leadership on the pitch. Meanwhile, Harry from East London School was presented with the Best Sportsmanship award, recognising his positive attitude and respect for teammates and opponents throughout the tournament.

From dramatic scorelines and spectacular goals to teamwork and respect between players, the TCES football tournament captured everything that makes school sport so powerful.
With brilliant football on display and students proudly representing their schools, the day proved to be a huge success, and if the quality of goals this year is anything to go by, next year’s tournament already has a lot to live up to!
