North West London School Graduation Celebrates Resilience and New Chapters

There are moments in education that remind us why we do what we do. Today’s graduation at TCES North West London School was one of them.

Year 11 and Post-16 students came together with their families and staff to celebrate an important milestone. More than a ceremony, the event recognised each student’s resilience, personal growth and journey to this point.

One parent shared the impact of this support:

“Without the support from staff across North West London School, we would likely be visiting him in prison right now.”

Throughout the afternoon, staff reflected on each student’s individual journey. Their words recognised challenges overcome and offered encouragement for the future, highlighting the determination behind every success.

Students also took to the stage, speaking with honesty and courage about their experiences. Their reflections were heartfelt and powerful, expressing both gratitude and pride in how far they had come.

One student said:

“If I was my mum, I would have given up a long time ago… now, I feel proud with my mum, brother and best friends here supporting me graduate.”

CEO and Founder Thomas Keaney described the ceremony as both emotional and inspiring:

“I listened to staff who were very proud and talked about their journeys with our young people, supporting them over many years. That commitment is extraordinary. I also listened to the students themselves, now young men and women, speaking with confidence about how far they have come and where they are going next. Every one of them stood tall and spoke with belief in themselves. That confidence doesn’t happen by chance. It is built over time through care, consistency and people never giving up on them.

Does the TCES Way work? You only have to look at these young people to see the answer. The TCES Way is the golden thread running through every story we heard today. It’s in the relationships, the perseverance and the belief that every child can succeed. The message that stayed with me throughout the ceremony was simple: never give up. These students didn’t give up, their families didn’t give up, and our staff never gave up on them. That is why this moment matters so much.”

At TCES, students are supported through therapeutic education, meaning they receive tailored support for learning, emotional wellbeing and personal development. Graduation day is about more than certificates. It reflects every breakthrough, every challenge overcome and every adult who believed in a young person when they needed it most.
