Northwest London Year 11 vs Staff: End of Year Football Showdown!

The annual Year 11 vs Staff football match was a great way to round off the year, with plenty of teamwork, determination and support from the sidelines.

Year 11 started the match with lots of energy and worked as a team throughout. They gave the staff a good challenge and kept battling until the final whistle. However, the staff team’s proved difficult to beat as they came away with a strong 6–1 win and of course, plenty of bragging rights across the school!

For Ikem, Head of PE, the result was only part of this special event.

“As Head of PE, these are the moments I’m most proud of. Yes, the staff secured a 6–1 victory but what stood out most was the respect, teamwork and resilience shown by the students, they never gave up, they pushed themselves and each other every step of the way.

“This is what school sport is all about. It shows the positive relationships between staff and students, which are key. It also is a life lesson that we can have fun, enjoy healthy competition and even though you may not win, the students had fun, supported each other, socialised with healthy banter, and they can take away the enjoyment of being apart of a great game from all sides”

Year 11 student said “the match was a memorable way to finish the year”.

Mr Shawn, Year 11 Group Coordinator, joked: “We had to show Year 11 that we’ve still got some juice left in the old legs! It was a great event to end the year and continue to strengthen the relationship we have with our students.”

Player of the Match went to one of our students, who put in an excellent performance in goal who made a number of brilliant saves.

What a way to kick off the summer break.
