TCES Group’s Sports Celebration Day showed that success looks different in a specialist SEND setting.
While organisation and results matter, the biggest achievements often happen before the first race begins. Many students arrived having already overcome anxiety, changes to routine, and sensory challenges, making simply taking part a significant success.
Every student who stood on the starting line had overcome personal barriers that are not always visible. Each cheer reflected confidence built over time through consistent support.
At TCES, Therapeutic Education means supporting both learning and emotional wellbeing, helping young people feel safe, confident and ready to succeed. Staff adapted activities, reassured students and celebrated effort over results. Their calm, responsive support helped students stay engaged, even during challenging moments.
The most powerful moments were students supporting each other and growing in confidence throughout the day. These achievements cannot be measured on a results sheet, but they reflect what matters most,belonging, resilience and pride. Events like this are made possible by the dedication of TCES staff, who support every young person to feel safe enough to learn and confident enough to succeed.
