Strategy, Skill and Sportsmanship at the Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament!

A group of students from TCES East London School recently enjoyed a trip to the Brotherhood Store to take part in an exciting Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament against other players who share the same interest in the game. For those who don’t know Yu-Gi-Oh! This is a card trading game centred around magical fantasy monsters and taking on duels and puzzles, to protect yourself and friends from bullies and dark forces.

Seven students, attended the trip, across Year 10 and Year 11. The tournament was played in a knockout format, meaning students competed in one-on-one matches with winners progressing through each round until an overall champion was crowned.

Throughout the day, students were tested on their tactics and having to pivot from onestrategy to the next while thinking under pressure. Yu-Gi-Oh! requires players to carefully plan ahead, adapt which challenges the students but also is rewarding and fun.

Temi was thrilled to finish in first place and spoke about how exciting the competition was. He stayed focused throughout the tournament and showed great knowledge of the game during each match.

Miles also had an excellent tournament, finishing in second place after progressing through several difficult rounds. He enjoyed the competitive atmosphere and highlighted how respectful and encouraging everyone was throughout the day.

The trip gave students a fantastic opportunity to socialise with others who share similar interests, build confidence and enjoy some healthy competition in a supportive environment.

It was brilliant to see everyone encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s achievements throughout the tournament.
