therapeutic education
At TCES, we believe children can only learn when they feel safe, understood and supported. Therapeutic Education is the foundation of everything we do. It is not an ‘add on’ to learning it is woven into every lesson, every interaction and every part of school life.
Understanding SEND Pupils
Our approach recognises that many SEND pupils have experienced barriers to learning, including anxiety, trauma, disrupted attachment or difficulties with communication and sensory processing. We understand that behaviour is a form of communication, and we respond with curiosity, empathy and consistency.

Holistic Support
Therapeutic Education at TCES goes beyond traditional academics. It is a holistic model that supports emotional regulation, social development and resilience alongside academic progress. Teachers work closely with our on-site clinical teams including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Psychotherapists to embed therapeutic strategies throughout the curriculum and daily routines.
By creating a predictable, nurturing and structured environment, we help pupils reduce anxiety, build social connection and develop in their learning. Our aim is always positive inclusion supporting every child to thrive academically and personally

Therapeutic Support Woven into Everyday School Life
Often, the most powerful therapeutic work happens quietly, without pupils experiencing it as “therapy” in the traditional sense. For many children, it simply feels like being understood, guided and supported by adults who genuinely know how to help them succeed.
This therapeutic approach is brought to life through carefully designed groups and activities, such as:

Lego Club and Lego Therapy

Girls’ Group

Expressive Arts Groups

Dungeons & Dragons

Working in Partnership with Families
We recognise that meaningful progress happens when school and home work together. Our therapy teams provide feedback, strategies and recommendations to parents and carers, ensuring consistency and shared understanding.
Therapeutic Education at TCES is about more than supporting children in school, it is about helping them build the emotional resilience, confidence and life skills they need for the future.
Above all, we never give up on a child. We see their strengths, we understand their needs, and we remain committed to helping them thrive.
