As anti-bullying week ends, we share some great highlights from our schools and services where pupils and staff showed their support for anti-bullying week.
Odd socks
In support of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, Monday started off with ‘Odd Socks Day’ when staff and pupils donned colourful and mismatched socks as a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique and spread some kindness.
One Kind Word
We spoke to some of our anti-bullying ambassadors about what anti-bullying means to them and asked them to share one kind word that resonates with them and the people around them.
One common theme that came from these conversations was Respect – an essential ingredient to the TCES Community Values.
We spoke to one of our Year 7 pupils about what Respect means to him. He said “Respect is when someone never has a bad attitude towards you. I have respect for my teacher because he is a kindhearted person. I also have respect for my classmate ‘B’ because he is a good person.’
Another of our pupils spoke to one of our Alumni Mentors, Maison about being an anti-bullying ambassador and why anti-bullying policies are important.
One of our schools created a ‘One Kind Word’ wall where many students took the time to think about kind words that mean something to them, sharing it with their classmates and school staff – as great way to promote kindness and positivity.
Keep awareness-raising going
Anti-bullying week is a great way to shine the spotlight on bullying and raise awareness of what we can do to stop it, but it’s important to continuously raise awareness and promote kindness all year round.
Our anti-bullying ambassadors and councils across our schools are key to empowering pupils to support each other and embed a no-tolerance policy by pupils for pupil.
