TCES North West London School Achieves Outstanding Ofsted Rating

We are incredibly proud to share that TCES North West London School, located in Ealing and part of the TCES Group Social Enterprise, has been awarded an Outstanding rating in all six categories following a recent Ofsted inspection. Our school serves exceptional neurodivergent children and young people aged 7 to 19, and this recognition is a true testament to our unwavering commitment to inclusion and positive transformation.

The Ofsted inspectors acknowledged that we truly live up to our motto of 'We never give up, we never exclude.' They highlighted our dedication to building strong, trusting relationships between pupils and staff from the very beginning. The inspectors commented: “From the start, staff and pupils develop strong trusting relationships. When pupils’ behaviours deteriorate, staff work with them sensitively to unpick and address the underlying causes.” It was wonderful to see the report emphasise that students who often arrive feeling socially isolated leave as confident, independent young adults who are well-prepared for their future lives.

One of the key aspects praised by Ofsted was our ability to promote positive behaviours and attitudes. Inspectors remarked that “The school has a very effective approach to helping pupils to develop highly positive behaviours and attitudes. It helps pupils to appreciate their own self-worth and that of others. Over time, pupils’ behaviours and their attitude to others and to education markedly improve.” Additionally, the report recognised our exceptional work in promoting pupils’ personal development.

Our unique approach to therapeutic education was also commended. The report noted that “All pupils have Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan. They arrive with poor prior experiences of and attitudes to education. The school prioritises providing pupils with extensive therapeutic and pastoral support when they join the school. This gets them into the right place emotionally to engage positively with learning.”

Thomas Keaney, CEO of the TCES Group, praised our staff and pupils for this outstanding achievement, stating: “To receive an outstanding grading for our school is testament to the skilled, specialist team we have wrapped around each child, providing exceptional teaching, therapeutic and pastoral support. While inclusion in education has become a focus in recent months, TCES has been living and breathing inclusion in our schools for over a quarter of a century, and this Ofsted report demonstrates how authentic inclusion in education can truly transform the lives of the most complex and traumatised children.”

He continued: “The children that come to our school have been excluded from mainstream schools an average of three times. For children with complex needs, exclusion reinforces a cycle of rejection and failure. Instead, at TCES we focus on creating an environment where every child can succeed. This isn’t always easy, and it’s never without obstacles, but the results speak for themselves, and we never give up. The outstanding grading is something every one of our staff, pupils and parents can feel very proud of.”

This outstanding Ofsted rating reflects our commitment to inclusion, support, and providing a transformative educational experience for our pupils. We couldn’t be prouder of the entire TCES North West London School community on this remarkable achievement!
